Going back to the track where I grew up and learned to race is always an awesome thing to do between traveling out of town to race at other tracks. Last night we raced at Atoka Raceway Park. It’s a track that’s been around here in my area since the 90’s. My dad and grandpa worked there when I was born and for the next long while you could say I grew up there. It was a fun place to hang out and learn to race. It is a small 1/8th mile high banked fast track. Anyways I don’t race there as much anymore but I do go to race occasionally.
We were not racing anywhere else and we decided to go back home and compete in a Burris race at ARP. It was going to be a night race so it would be some cooler from the heat we have had lately. We planned on only running three classes. Clone Lite, Heavy and a Pro Heavy.
The track was really bad in a few places and it was definitely a drivers track. We didn’t qualify too good, 3rd in all classes. But, We got three wins. It was good to feel that again and it brought back a lot of memories. Dad worked hard on the set up and it paid off as the kart drove great and the checkered felt awesome.
